To the Editor:

STAFF EDITORIAL

I was intrigued to read Professor Everbach’s commentary "Air traffic control changes to increase noise pollution," Sept. 21, 2006] with regard to his interpretation about the FAA’s published noise pollution data on the agency’s Metro Airspace Redesign Alternatives. Based on the New Jersey Coalition Against Aircraft Noise’s (NJCAAN’s) experience, Delaware County can expect a significantly negative public reaction if the FAA implements its fanning proposal at Philadelphia Airport.

In an analysis for Westchester County, N.Y., conducted by Harris, Miller, Miller and Hanson, the report also concludes that residents of Westchester County would react significantly negatively to the FAA’s Integrated Airspace with the Integrated Control Complex (ICC), if it is implemented. Please note that the ICC impact on Westchester County is innocuous compared to the FAA’s Fanning proposal for Philadelphia Airport.
